Car Pooling in Dubai
Car Pooling in Dubai has to be registered with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) with certain criteria. The service introduced by RTA for Car Pooling is known as ‘Sharekni‘, in Arabic it means Share with Me. The initiative to introduce car pooling ‘officially’ is to reduce traffic jams, and anyone car pooling unofficially will be fined.
For Car Owners, they are allowed to carry 4 more passengers with them while they are commuting. The Registration is free of cost and is valid for a period of 6 months. After 6 months, the driver has to register again.
For Car Passengers, they can find drivers going in the same direction as theirs, or register their name on the website of Sharekni for the drivers to find them.
Registration Procedure for Car Owners (Driving License and Car Plate Number of the Driver Required)
1) Goto the Sharekni website and register yourself as a new user.
2) Fill in all the required information including details like email, contacts, username, password, etc. After agreeing to the Terms and Conditions, you will have to login using your email address and click on the link.
3) Continue with the registration process by filling in details like personal information, location, driver/passenger details, driving license number, and car plate number.
4) Registration is complete and you will receive confirmation email/SMS from RTA. You can now login and search for mutual commuters in your location and add them to your preferences.
Remember to keep the RTA confirmation printout in your car at all times. This can be shown during random checks.

1) Goto the Sharekni website and register yourself as a new user.
2) Fill in all the required information including details like email, contacts, username, password, etc. After agreeing to the Terms and Conditions, you will have to login using your email address and click on the link.
3) Continue with the registration process by filling in details like personal information, location, and passenger details.
4) Registration is complete and you will receive confirmation email/SMS from RTA. When any Carpool Driver searches the Sharekni database, and finds your location and timing convinient for carpooling, he will contact you.
